Scotland finished bottom of the table in the Woman's Home Internationals at Scotscraig this week after defeat by the new champions, Wales, in the final match.

Ayrshire's Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) lost heavily in the morning foursomes match but was edged out by only one hole in the afternoon singles.

(Report from the SLGA website)

Wales won the Women’s Home Internationals at Irvine Bogside in 2009 – Scotland again proved to be a happy hunting ground as they completed a clean sweep at Scotscraig.

Following wins over England and Ireland, a final day 7-2 triumph over Scotland  sealed the Miller Trophy for the welsh wonders. Ireland, with a 5-4 win over England claimed second place.

For Scotland, an opening day draw with Ireland followed by defeats from England and Wales made for a disappointing end. Winners in 2010, it is the third year in a row with the wooden spoon.

With Wales 3-0 ahead after the morning foursomes, Curtis Cup player Amy Boulden led the way in the singles with a one hole win over Eilidh Briggs. Chloe Williams then made it six out of six wins in beating Lauren Whyte 4 and 3. That meant the match was over.

Alyson McKechin, the Scottish Champion, finally squeezed out a half point in her match against Katie Bradbury and new cap Heather Munro defeated Samantha Birks 3 and 2.

Scottish Girls’ Champion Connie Jaffrey lost on the last green to Katherine O’Connor before Hannah McCook gained a half point against Becky Harries in the final match.

In the foursomes, McKechin and Briggs lost their 100% record in a 3 and 2 defeat from Birks and O’Connor and Megan Briggs and Gabrielle MacDonald lost 2 and 1 to Williams and Bradbury.

The final foursomes also went Wales way with Boulden and Harries overcoming McCook and Jaffrey 6 and 5.

Wales will defend at Aberdovey in 2014.
